Which exact US Wave Plug does this record identify?
The current Shelly USA product route, one-variant storefront record and printed guide identify Shelly Wave Plug LR, QLPL-001X16US, SKU/EAN 3800238070991, as one white plug. Do not merge it with the separate earlier QNPL-001X16US Wave Plug US documentation candidate.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the 1,800 W / 15 A statement certify any motor?
No. Shelly lists resistive, capacitive and inductive categories but gives no horsepower ceiling. Its US product page says up to 1,800 W at 15 A; the printed guide conflicts on nominal voltage (110 V versus the page’s 120 V), so verify the current instructions and appliance rating near the limit.
Explore this need in the finder →Does “Long Range” mean I can use the plug without a hub?
No. Shelly says a Z-Wave gateway is required and a ZWLR-compatible hub is mandatory for Long Range. The device must be included in either mesh or Long Range star; mesh can repeat, while the Long Range star talks directly to its gateway and cannot repeat. The tested SmartThings route is documented for the Shelly Wave Edge driver in mesh mode only.
Explore this need in the finder →Assessment basis: this review covers the US Shelly Wave Plug LR, ordering code QLPL-001X16US, for one white plug. The selected US storefront record reports SKU/EAN 3800238070991 and one default-title variant. This is a document-based assessment, not a hands-on test; I have not installed, operated, measured or load-tested this plug.
Buy it for a Z-Wave system, not as a Wi-Fi plug
The main purchasing distinction is the radio and controller. The Wave Plug LR is a Z-Wave smart plug, not a Shelly Wi-Fi/Matter device. Its US listing says a compatible smart hub is not included and is required to configure the plug. A Long Range setup requires a Z-Wave Long Range-compatible gateway specifically; the label “LR” is not a replacement for that hardware check. This US code, QLPL-001X16US, must also remain separate from Shelly’s earlier Wave Plug US documentation candidate with code QNPL-001X16US. The LR page and manual identify QLPL. Similar names and shared Z-Wave type/product IDs do not prove hardware, generation or seller equivalence. The current page has a single product variant and the manufacturer’s package image shows one device; neither indicates a bundled hub.Mesh and Long Range are different operating layouts
The model supports Z-Wave Plus mesh and Z-Wave Long Range star topologies, but the manufacturer says to choose the topology during inclusion. In mesh, compatible mains-powered devices can relay traffic, and the plug can operate as a repeater. In Long Range, the plug communicates directly with the compatible gateway and is not a repeater. A buyer who needs an extension hop around a radio dead spot should not assume the LR star mode will perform that role. Shelly’s printed guide lists up to 40 metres (131 feet) indoors for mesh and up to 80 metres (262 feet) indoors or 1,000 metres (3,281 feet) outdoors for Long Range, with actual distance dependent on conditions. Those are manufacturer figures, not measured results for a particular building. More importantly, the safety text says the product is for indoor use only and not for wet or damp locations. A radio-range figure described “outdoors” is not an outdoor electrical rating. What the SmartThings route confirms
The model-specific compatibility table names Home Assistant, Homey, SmartThings with Shelly’s Wave edge driver, and Vera Ezlo, with different available reports. For SmartThings, the table marks On/Off, watts and kilowatt-hour reporting as working but notes that voltage and current have no gateway placeholder. I model that as a mesh/SmartThings route with the Shelly Wave edge driver, not as proof that SmartThings supports this device in every Long Range configuration. Samsung documents time-triggered SmartThings automations; the device compatibility table supplies the corresponding on/off action. That combination can meet an indoor SmartThings control task with schedules and energy reporting, but setup still depends on the correct Z-Wave gateway and edge driver. The plug’s measurements are transmitted to the gateway; the sources do not give an accuracy tolerance, guarantee a particular dashboard, or make the reported readings a substitute for an independently verified utility meter. The page’s generic control language should not be confused with the Wi-Fi-based Shelly app experience of Gen4 devices.Electrical capacity and a documentation conflict
The current US product page lists 120 V AC ±10%, a 15 A maximum switching current and up to 1,800 W at 15 A. It also lists resistive, capacitive and inductive load classes. The separate printed guide lists 110 V AC ±10% while also stating 15 A, so Shelly’s nominal-voltage figures conflict between the sales specification and printed safety document. The 1,800 W figure is from the product page; near the plug’s maximum, check the current manual, appliance nameplate and circuit requirements rather than treating this review as installation approval. Although inductive loads are listed, the checked sources do not state a motor horsepower ceiling. A 15 A current limit or watt figure is not a motor rating. Confirm the specific motor, compressor or appliance start requirements. This profile therefore answers the general/resistive load class but does not pass the finder’s 1/6 hp motor requirement.Fit and operation checks
Shelly lists a 1.5 × 3.3 × 2.0-inch body in H × W × D order, with a NEMA 5-15 Type-B socket and compatibility with Type-A and Type-B plugs. At 3.3 inches wide it is larger than the 2.52-inch Gen4 width in this library. The published body dimensions do not include neighboring-outlet clearance or cord bend; measure the actual receptacle and appliance before choosing it. The device can measure power and energy, switch from its physical S button, receive scheduled on/off automation through a compatible gateway and retain its configured restore behavior after a power failure. The checked model material does not establish a countdown or randomized Away Mode, nor does it support a promise of internet-independent control from every chosen gateway. Before ordering, verify the QLPL-001X16US code, single white unit, Z-Wave gateway inclusion, mesh-versus-LR support and seller terms. The exact-name CPSC query returned an empty result for Shelly Wave Plug LR on 2026-10-31; this limited search is not a safety certification. No stock, price, performance measurement, customer experience or ASIN is asserted.Key specifications
