A useful fit for

A document-based fit for 2 indoor installations where black finish, Shelly-app scheduling and power metering are useful; each plug remains an independent one-outlet device with its own rating.

The main tradeoff

The 1,800 W maximum is resistive-only and there is no documented horsepower ceiling. The default Matter/Wi-Fi and alternative Zigbee firmware are not simultaneous; timer, schedule and energy views are not established as identical in every third-party app. Body height/depth figures conflict, so only the common width is matched.

Your needs, this model

Which exact black Gen4 package does this profile cover?

Black / 2-pack; two independent plug devices. Storefront variant 54095195963733. The store SKU field is PLUGGEN4BLACK4Pack despite the 2-pack title and image; no exact black 2-pack EAN/GTIN is established.

Does 1,800 W mean it is a motor or compressor approval?

No. Shelly limits the published 1,800 W maximum to resistive loads. The checked exact-model sources do not publish a motor horsepower ceiling; compare the actual appliance instructions and plug guide.

What does the local-control and timer evidence actually cover?

The Shelly/device route includes a local web interface after setup on the working home LAN, weekly schedules, energy metering and the product page’s integrated one-hour countdown shutoff. That does not establish identical timer, schedule or energy views inside Apple Home or other third-party apps, or operation after Wi-Fi/router failure.

Assessment basis: this is the US black two-plug package of Shelly Plug US Gen4, model S4PL-00116US. The two-pack route and its image identify two separate plug bodies. This is document research, not an installation or laboratory test; I have not owned, operated, measured or load-tested these units.

Two plugs means two locations, not a two-outlet adapter

The useful reason to consider the black two-pack is having two independently installed control points in one configuration. The official package image shows two black plug bodies, each with one switched socket. It is not a strip with two receptacles, a dual outlet adapter or a single higher-capacity device. Each unit occupies its own wall receptacle and retains its own load limit. The two-device pack does not combine into a 3,600 W or 30 A allowance. The selected black route shares the S4PL-00116US model code with the other Gen4 finish and pack profiles. Its color is black; its physical count is two. The source page exposes a 2-pack variant but does not establish a separate black-bundle manufacturer EAN, so verify the seller’s exact black two-pack label and contents rather than substituting a white two-pack or relying on a similar listing title.

Each installation still needs a compatible outlet

Shelly’s printed Gen4 guide illustrates a Type-B input plug and Type-B output receptacle. The retailer copy uses broader Type-A/Type-B language, so read the exact instructions and check the grounded outlet available at each location. Do not assume that a two-slot outlet, a sideways receptacle, a wall plate or a neighboring adapter will clear the body. Both sites need their own measured space, appliance plug and cord-bend check. The product page gives dimensions of 1.50 × 2.52 × 2.01 inches (height × width × depth); the printed guide gives 1.42 × 2.52 × 1.99 inches. Width agrees at 2.52 inches, but the other axes do not, so this assessment does not use either conflicting value in the finder. The manufacturer’s two-unit image verifies quantity, not clearance or a guaranteed outlet fit.

Ratings stay per plug

Shelly publishes a 120 V, 15 A maximum and 1,800 W output for resistive loads. The package adds another device but does not raise each device’s ceiling. The product-specific documentation lists resistive, capacitive and inductive load types, but this review found no distinct horsepower limit for motors. A motor, compressor, refrigerator or heater should be checked against both the appliance documentation and the plug’s exact instructions. A watt figure alone does not answer inrush-current, load classification or installation questions. Power and energy monitoring can make two separate loads easier to review through Shelly’s documented interface. Still, the source material does not provide a measurement accuracy tolerance, nor does a pair of plugs establish a shared meter or a guaranteed multi-device energy dashboard in a third-party ecosystem. Use each plug’s documented reading as device data, and check what the chosen app actually exposes.

Two packages, one deliberate setup choice

Gen4’s default is Wi-Fi/Matter firmware; the printed guide says five rapid button presses switch to Zigbee firmware. Matter and Zigbee are alternate modes, not a simultaneous setup. For Apple Home, the manufacturer lists Matter compatibility and a compatible Matter controller is part of the installation. Zigbee needs a compatible coordinator. Shelly also lists limited Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings integrations, but their capability summaries do not establish identical timer, schedule, local access or energy-history functions across the apps. The Shelly/device route is where the manufacturer documents local schedules, energy reporting and a local web interface on the same network. Its product page describes an integrated one-hour countdown shutoff. That gives a practical option for an appliance meant to run for a limited period, but the listed feature does not establish a freely adjustable timer duration or timer parity in Apple Home and other third-party apps. The local interface also assumes the previously configured home LAN is still working; it is not Wi-Fi-independent control or setup without a network.

When the two-pack is the right amount

Choose this package when two real control points are needed and both outlets can use the same broad Gen4 setup, load class and control approach. If only one location is certain, the black single avoids an unused second plug; if four are needed, review the black four-pack as its own configuration. Before ordering, verify the model family, black finish, two-unit quantity, Type-B grounded outlet, network/controller requirements and seller return terms. The exact-name CPSC query for the black Gen4 returned no records on 2026-10-31, a limited name search rather than a safety certification. This review makes no claim of stock, price, hands-on experience, testing or ownership.
